Pathways to Construction at Hodgson Plastering Contractors Ltd
With over two decades of trading as CIS Contractors, specialising in Architectural Finishes across a wide variety of projects, Hodgson Plastering Contractors Ltd has developed in-house pathways to support the achievement of trade skills for many members of our workforce.
Starting their industry journey at Hodgson as entry-level trainees or labourers, our team members are given the opportunity to grow and develop into skilled tradespeople—whether as plasterers, boarders, dabbers, skimmers, or external renderers. Many of these individuals may not have otherwise had access to formal trade development, but through our dedicated training and support, they’ve gained the skills and confidence to build lasting careers.
Managing Director and Owner Dave Hodgson knows this pathway well—having developed his own trade skills in a similar way many years ago. His belief in creating opportunities for others to succeed has been central to the company’s growth and ongoing commitment to workforce development.
By starting with basic labouring tasks and progressing to more skilled responsibilities under the guidance of experienced tradespeople, our workers gain valuable on-the-job experience. When ready, we support their progression toward formal qualifications, ensuring both competence and the enrichment of a diverse, capable workforce.
We recognise that traditional apprenticeships don’t suit everyone—especially older workers. That’s why we offer experienced worker routes as alternative pathways to achieving the same skilled outcomes. These routes not only build trade capability but also instil pride, confidence, and a sense of purpose in every team member, contributing to Hodgson Plastering’s success in both regional and national construction sectors.
